Will
I be able to be hypnotised?
Almost
all of the population can be hypnotised. Inability to concentrate,
sometimes found in the very young or the very old, can inhibit the
process and if you are under the influence of certain drugs, narcotics
or alcohol at the time of the session this may well make hypnosis
impossible. What you may find is that with each session the process
becomes easier and easier as you come to understand the process and
learn to relax.
Will I lose control?
Probably
the most asked question due to the impressions gained though literature
and entertainment. You should be assured that you will remain in full
control of your thoughts and actions during every session. The therapist
and client form a partnership in which the real control always remains
with the client.
Can I be made to do something
against my will?
Absolutely
not. Your mind is a positive and protective force taking care of
you throughout the sessions. You would discard any suggestion that
was at odds with your morals, beliefs or principles. You remain in
control at all times and cannot be manipulated by the therapist.
Will I be asleep?
No
but you will feel very relaxed in most cases. You will be aware of
everything around you with an enhanced ability to concentrate on
the voice of the therapist.
How will I feel afterwards?
Because
you remain alert and conscious throughout the process some clients
don't believe they have been hypnotised. This is perfectly normal
and indicative of having gone through the process correctly. It is
also likely that you will feel blissfully relaxed and perhaps a little
drowsy straight afterwards though the drowsiness will pass quickly.
How many sessions will be needed?
It
will depend on the nature of the unwanted behavior or condition,
or what you wish change for the better, but on average between 2
and 10 sessions will suffice.
Will I reveal secrets?
No,
as your mind only has a positive and protective intent for you. However
when you come to trust in a therapist you will feel comfortable discussing
matters that you previously may have felt unwilling to share.
Can I get stuck in trance and be
unable to be woken?
This
simply does not take place. You will always “wake up” but
sometimes the enjoyment of the relaxed hypnotic state may encourage
you to stay within the trance. You will however naturally
return to full awareness in your own good time. If there was any
danger to you, such a fire, you would rouse yourself immediately.
Will I suffer any amnesia?
You
will remember almost everything that happens or is said in the
session. specifically because of the focused state brought about
by hypnosis.
